THE HOST GUIDE
A good night starts before dinner.
Bring the people, make them feel welcome and give the night a life beyond the table.
BEFORE THE DINNER
Get the table right.
- Start with a reason to meet. Think about the people you want to bring together and what they might have in common. You host, with 11 guests around the table.
- Get your plan approved. Propose your campus, city and guest mix. Confirm the restaurant, date and spending arrangement with the booking contact before making commitments. An idea on this site is not an approved booking.
- Invite people personally. Explain the evening, who is hosting and that fomo covers the approved dinner. Track who has actually confirmed. Give your booking contact the guest list they request through the agreed channel.
- Confirm the practical details. Check dietary and access needs with your guests, reconfirm the booking and share one clear arrival message. Pass changes to the person coordinating the restaurant.
- Plan your host post. Decide what you want to capture and who can help. Let guests know about filming and respect anyone who would rather stay out of it.
An approved dinner covers up to $1,200 for 12 people. Confirm what is covered and how the restaurant will be paid before the night.
AT THE TABLE
Host the people you invited.
- Make arriving easy. Be there to welcome people, connect names and help everyone find a place in the conversation.
- Make the introductions that matter. Share why two people might enjoy meeting. Give the evening room to develop rather than turning it into a presentation.
- Capture a few real moments. Get the material for your host post without making the whole dinner a shoot. Ask before featuring people prominently.
- Close out the approved plan. Follow the restaurant’s confirmed payment arrangement. Record the actual attendance and anything the booking contact needs to know.
Guests should know what fomo is and why it brought the table together. A dinner is not a promise of trading returns or financial advice.
AFTER THE NIGHT
Share it. Then close the loop.
- Publish your host post. One post is part of hosting. Tell the story of the dinner, use material you have permission to share and clearly say that fomo paid for it.
- Add the public link. Keep the dinner post distinct from the host recap. The post page records the link, platform and account details for review.
- Write a short recap. Record who came in broad terms, how many people attended, what worked and what you would change. Use the recap page to prepare those details.
- Follow through on the connections. Thank your guests and make any introductions you agreed to, with permission from both people.
The $10,000 most-viewed dinner-video prize is an extra incentive. Full entry and judging terms still need to be published; a post review on this site does not confirm a prize entry.
The request, recap and post pages currently prepare a review only. Nothing is delivered from these forms yet. For an approved dinner, use the communication channel confirmed by your booking contact.
